Sowing The Seeds by Jason Pollock

I’m always interested in nature and being outdoors. As the days got warmer, I got ready to garden. I recently purchased a book full of recommendations for flowers and plants that will attract and feed pollinators such as bees, moths, butterflies, hummingbirds, and certain kinds of beetles. I spent part of a sleepy Sunday morning ordering seeds for plants that will grow in my area.

The plan was to make my yard a smorgasbord for any and all hungry little insects and birds. Some of my plants are already flowering and others will be soon, but the real magic should happen within a month or so when the dinner bell rings and a whole host of delicious flowers and buds appear.

This is my small attempt to replace habitat and food sources that have disappeared with human development. The pollinators are disappearing and that will have an impact on human survival and I’m hoping the air will be alive with buzzing and chirping all summer. A benefit is that some plants will have delicious berries and some are herbs that will end up in my dinner! Feed the bees, feed yourself- it’s a win-win! Plant a garden.
